Some may write their own text while others find inspiration from texts others have written. Here you will find some examples of verses that you can choose or be inspired by. Texts on gravestones do not have to be long, a short verse may be sufficient in some cases.

You leave us, but are not gone
in our thoughts you live on.

We tie a wreath of memories
the most beautiful and finest we have.
We know they will never wither
with us you are always there.

No one can stop the end of life
but beautiful memories can alleviate grief.

Our life is a breeze, a fairy tale a dream,
a drop that falls in the current of times.
It shimmers in the color of the rainbow for a minute,
fails and falls and the dream is over.

Sleep to the caressing song of the winds
Sleep under the soft embrace of greenery
Sleep away from grief, worry and struggle
Sleep in wonderful peace.

In the memory you live
You are always there.
In the memory we see you
just like you were.

You’re leaving us
but is not gone
In our thoughts
you live on

You fell asleep quietly
when the journey was over
from all that you have suffered
you are now resting.
We tie a wreath
of memories
the most beautiful and
finest we have.
We know they never wither,
with us you are always there.

Memories that touch our hearts
is never lost

Warm was your heart
And happy your mind
Bright and sunny
Illuminates your memory

We want to remember the sunny days.
Then sorrow and pain were far from us.
We want to remember the happy days,
when we were together.

Thank you for what you have given,
thank you for what you were.
Thanks for the bright memory
that you left behind.

Poems as a final greeting

A beautiful poem is a great way to leave a final greeting. It can describe so much between the lines. Some write their own poems, while others think that their own words are not enough. You can then use poems written by others. Here are some suggestions on how to look or get an appointment for antique items. There are no rules for how texts on gravestones need to be designed. Here it is quite a matter of taste and what feels best to remember the deceased after.

Nobody wants to die. People who want to go to heaven do not want to die to get there. Yet death is the destination we all share. No one has ever moved it. And that’s how it should be, because death is probably the best invention in life. It is life’s representative for change. It sweeps away the old and makes room for the new. Today the new is you, but soon, not too far in the future, you will become the old and have to make room for the new. Sorry to be so dramatic, but it’s sadly true.
– Steve jobs

Alas, let me live properly
and really die once,
so that I touch reality
in evil as well as good
– Karin Boye

No goodbye, no conscious words,
so fast and quiet you went away from our earth.
Here we go remnants of your past world,
among thoughts and memories that colored your hearth.
Everything that you loved us pictures now gives.
You talk and laugh, we remember you and see.
– Charlotte Zelmani

Love is so wonderfully strong,
crushed by nothing in the world.
Roses sprout from the hardest ground
like sun over the dark fence.
My heart is yours,
your heart is mine
and I will never leave it again.
– Nils Ferlin

Our life is a wind fan, a fairy tale, a dream
A drop that falls in the current of times
It shimmers in the color of the rainbow for a minute
fails and falls and the dream is over
– Nils Ferlin

Now it’s autumn
and the golden birds
fly all home
over deep blue water;
I’m sitting on the beach
and stares at the narrow glitter
and the farewell hisses
through the branches
The farewell is great,
divorce imminent
but the reunion is certain.
– Edith Södergran

Somewhere inside us
we are always together.
Somewhere inside us
our love can never escape.
Somewhere
o somewhere.
– Erik Lindegren

That life is not the longest
which lasted the longest.
It lived the longest, which filled
life best.
It is not the richest, which is the most
have saved
No, it is the richest who has
given the most.
– Naima Jakobsson

Sometimes, as it were, time stops for a change
and something completely unexpected happens
The world is changing every day
but sometimes it never becomes the same again
– Alf Henriksson

Texts on gravestones, memorial stones, gifts, letters or cards are a way to honor the memory of a loved one.
